WIFA Closes $3.2 Million Loan with the City of Safford

The Water Infrastructure Finance Authority of Arizona (WIFA) announced today that it had closed a $3,225,000 30-year CWSRF loan with the City of Safford. The recently closed loan carries a 1.866% interest rate and features $900,000 in Principal Forgiveness.

Project Description

The purpose of the project is to increase the long-term water security of Graham County by utilizing 130.5 million gallons of Class A+ reclaimed water that is created each year at the City’s Gila Resources WWTP. The project will design and construct a reclaimed water pipeline to convey reclaimed water from the WWTP to the Graham County Fairgrounds for direct non-potable reuse which will reduce the volume of potable water currently used for irrigation and take full advantage of the effluent that would otherwise be discharged into the Gila River.
